I believe that knowledge is power, but learning is strength.
We learn more from our mistakes than our achievements, and this is why as educators I feel we need to encourage students to challenge themselves in ways that result in productive failure. Because learning occurs through failure, manifests as questioning, and extends beyond the classroom. Students have a voice, and should be taught to use it, to challenge hegemony, conflict, and systems of power and oppression.
My personal philosophy is: success happens when you get all the answers right; learning happens when you figure out WHY the answers are right; Achievement happens when these two things coincide.
As an educator, I recognize that knowledge is an opportunity for change, and change is the pathway to education.
