About the store
My educational journey began as a 1st and 3rd grade teacher, followed by roles as a K–5 Reading Specialist, K–5 School Instructional Coach, 3–5 District Instructional Coach, and now a District K–8 Math Specialist. In my current position, I have the privilege of collaborating bi-weekly with every K–8 math teacher across our district. Through these ongoing conversations, I’ve gained a deep understanding of what teachers need to deliver highly effective math instruction each day. I’ve listened to their requests for meaningful, ready-to-use resources and have gradually built a clear picture of what educators value most—materials that make math instruction engaging, collaborative, and intentional. Every resource I create is guided by the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and the expectations outlined in our state assessments, including the NCDPI K–2 Tasks and 3–8 Check-Ins 2.0.

Teaching style

Mathematics instruction should be developed with the standards as the foundation and designed using a backward-planning approach to ensure alignment with assessment expectations. Effective math instruction incorporates research-based strategies that allow students to make sense of every problem they encounter, collaborate with peers to justify or refine their thinking, and build conceptual understanding that leads to procedural fluency. This process is supported through the CRA model—moving from Concrete experiences with manipulatives, to Representational models such as diagrams, tables, and graphic organizers, and finally to Abstract understanding with numbers, equations, and symbols.
