About the store
I have been a high school biology teacher for 34 years! In that time, I have used drawing as a tool to understand concepts. I have also enjoyed making coloring pages and using other coloring books for Biology and Anatomy. Students often say that they can't draw, but find that they begin to do better at it with practice. I have also taught Health and Anatomy and Physiology.

NGSS Lesson Planning

After an in-depth district-wide training session on using NGSS/STEM in the classroom, I came up with this template that helps you to plan lessons and units utilizing all the main parts of the NGSS format. I have included an example for you to look at that gives you an example of how to interpret what the Next Generation Science Standards want. STEM is pretty much taken care of if you follow the NGSS format, because engineering practices, science practices, math and technology are imbedded with

This outline has been edited a couple of times as I have attended workshops and taught the NGSS Biology curriculum. I'm sure I will add to it again as new information and ideas come to light! In this outline, I have given you a sample course outline from which to base your year of teaching on. I actually have used this outline, and feel that it works really well. If you are a new teacher or just new to the NGSS curriculum, I think that this will really help you to not only understand the way

This hand-out can be exclusively for teacher information to impart to students or can be used to teach these concepts to students. Teachers and students need to know the similarities and differences between the scientific method and engineering design process. They need to know the basic parts of a system, and how models represent systems. I have given examples of the three most common types of models and have shown an example of a system as a model with inputs, accumulation and outputs.

About the store

Experience

I have been a high school biology teacher for 34 years! In that time, I have used drawing as a tool to understand concepts. I have also enjoyed making coloring pages and using other coloring books for Biology and Anatomy. Students often say that they can't draw, but find that they begin to do better at it with practice. I have also taught Health and Anatomy and Physiology.

Teaching style

I do some lecture, lots of activities and labs and try to involve the students as much as possible in their learning. We use a cornell note type note format with lots of room for drawings and diagrams.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was lucky to be chosen to be a mentor teacher a few years ago. I loved mentoring new teachers, and still do.

My own education history

I have a BS in Biology and a Masters degree in Public Health. My teaching credential is a single subject in Biology.

Additional biographical information

I am a mother of three- two of whom are teachers. My kids always knew that it was the best job in the world. I loved that I could be home in time to be there for my two growing boys, and daughter while they played all of their sports and enjoyed all of their activities. I still think it is the best job in the world.
