Strike it Rich! This is a dice game to help students understand "miner's luck," and how difficult the Gold Rush was for new miners.
Students roll a dice to determine what their day was like "strike it rich at a shallow stream, you found 10 gold nuggets" or "there was a hole in your pocket, lose 1 gold nugget." Students keep track on their gold on a recording sheet to determine who "strikes it rich!" My students played in pairs, but this would work well in groups of 2-4.
