Bottomless Math

This product includes 22 different vocabulary practice activities to use not only for ELA, but also for math and other non-ELA content areas. In reaching my goal of increasing student proficiency in using math language, I needed a resource that I could use whenever I wanted students to explicitly review any math vocabulary. This Bottomless Math worksheet has students focusing on writing '>, <, =,' comparing expressions with addition and subtraction.

Students use tracking sheets and a grocery store menu to purchase items using $20.00. Students subtract each product's dollar amount from the previous balance to practice their vertical subtraction with regrouping.

I use this packet as an introduction to measurement. It covers non-standard units using length. Students measure length using their hands, paper clips, erasers, and 'measuring tools' of their choosing. This packet also guides discussion and reflection of 'why non-standard units are not the best choice for measuring'. Topics and vocabulary included: measuring, length, units, non-standard units, standard units, fractions (one-half), oval, how many?.

This Bottomless Math activity has students filling in missing equations in sets of fact families that add up to numbers 3-10. Each fact family has the first equation given to jumpstart the students' thinking.
