This project uses simple probabilty and candy to reenforce this statistics topic. Students may use small packages of candy or may use a virtual candy box (which is in my store) to determine theoretical and experimental probability and to compare and constrast the two. Teachers then have the option to require students to create a presentation of the information. In this project, students operate with decimals and fractions to solve real-life problems including determining taxes, paying apartment rent, buying a car, and more. The project can be done by individual students or pairs of students. The teacher has the option to assign the project in pieces or in its entirety. There is also an option for the students to create a final presentation of their findings. Rubrics for all parts are included. Also included is a list of 30 occupations with salaries.

This bundle includes material which can cover the topics of simple and compound probability as well as theoretical and experimental probability. The PowerPoint includes vocabulary and step-by-step examples, the three worksheets cover simple, compound and mixed probability, the project covers theoretical and experimental probability as well as comparisons between the two, and the virtual candy box can be use, for in-person classes or distance learning, as a substitute for actual candy.

This bundle includes two resources. The first is a PowerPoint on probability which covers vocabulary and simple and compound probability. The second is a packet of three worksheets which cover the same topics; the worksheets all contain unique problems and answer keys are included.

This bundle includes the Candy Probability Project which covers theoretical and experimental probability and comparisons between the two. This project can be done individually or in small groups, in person or via distance learning. Also included in the bundle is the virtual candy box PowerPoint which can be used in lieu of actual candy for the project.

This packet contains three student worksheets and accompanying answer sheets. The worksheets cover simple probablity, compound probability, and mixed probabililty. All problems are unique; that is, the mixed probability problems are different than the simple and compound probability problems. While the worksheets have a candy theme, they can be used at any time as well as near Valentine's Day.

In this activity, students use the traditional song, The 12 Days of Christmas, to multiply and divide with mixed numbers. Part of the activity's requirement is to write two paragraphs explaining why the student can give more than the usual number of items (when multiplying) and why the student can give less (when dividing). This PowerPoint presentation has a Valentine's theme but can be used at any time. The presentation includes vocabulary, simple probability, compound events and their probability, and student examples.

This activity engages students in a fun way to find the areas and perimeters of composite figures as they try to help Cupid get ready for Valentine's Day. In the teacher's notes, there is a link to a Google doc containing the student portion of the activity.
