About the store

Experience

I design ELA resources that emphasize the core critical thinking skills of interpreting, analyzing, and evaluating texts. I try to push students to recognize the purposes a work of literature serves! Creating literature resources that help busy English teachers is a dream job for me. I developed my expertise first as a high school English teacher (12th grade British literature) and then as a curriculum designer and blogger at an educational nonprofit.

Teaching style

I love to challenge students with well-crafted extended thinking questions and literary analysis assignments that maximize what students take away from reading a text. But in addition to that, I'm always on a mission to get students excited about reading literature in the first place. I try to create thought-provoking anticipation guides and fun intro activities that engage students' attention in the pre-reading phase too!

Awards & shining teacher moments

Experiences I loved most as a teacher: • Serving as the advisor for the students who produced the annual literary magazine • Getting even the most reluctant students excited about the mysteries of Macbeth • Seeing students design their own contemporary monsters as part of our Beowulf unit • Laughing through our class performances of The Importance of Being Earnest!
