This introductory unit is designed to help students understand what philosophy is, why it matters, and how it applies to their everyday lives. It works well as the first unit of a semester-long course in philosophy or as a stand-alone module.

About the store

Experience

I have taught in public schools for 13 years and counting. For much of that time, I have served as a Social Studies teacher, teaching US History, Ethnic Studies, Psychology, and Philosophy. These days, I have added Career & Technical Education to my repertoire with a focus on Digital Media, Mass Communications, and Publishing. I currently teach Digital Photography (Intro and Advanced), and Yearbook.

Teaching style

I come from a community of educators that believe that education is a vehicle for justice, social transformation, and self-enhancement. In my classroom, I work to position my students as creators of knowledge and agents of their own development. This means that my classroom centers democratic and student-lead decision making, while applying what we know to the so-called "real world." Much of my curriculum is project-based.
