About the store
I have had my work published in literary magazines, and I run my own blog where I discuss issues in education. I have helped create an online news publication from scratch for a high school newspaper. I have worked as a librarian and have a expansive knowledge of the types of books teenagers enjoy reading. I have also spearheaded the digitization of thousands of pages of local yearbooks and newspapers. In the same vain, I have taken thousands of grave-site photos to aid in local genealogy research. My teaching journey is new. I began clinical experience in August 2023, and began student teaching in January 2025. Despite being new to the classroom, I have earned the respect of my students and have created many classroom resources to assist in my teaching.

Experience

Teaching style

Emphasizing positivity, and using reinforcement, over negativity and punishment. I believe in Bloom's Taxonomy and partnering struggling students with proficient students. It's important to remember that great writers are not born, but taught. Readers were encouraged and reinforced, and did not develop their love for reading alone. I encourage my students to write in detail. I make my classroom interactive for my students, as I believe that it's how they learn best. I believe that teachers earn the respect of their students, and owe their students the same respect. I believe in increasing a student's privileges when they demonstrate trustworthiness.

Additional biographical information

I am an English teacher to many amazing students. I live in Southern Illinois, and have a dog named Libby. I love both of my jobs: being a teacher and a librarian. I believe in staying positive and always being ready to learn.
