This activity is an exploration of the number pi. I usually use it on Pi Day. It is intended to be a fun activity. I usually allow students to bring pie to eat while they work on the activity. Students start out measuring the diameter and circumference of given circles to determine pi as a measurement. Then physical objects are measured to determine the same measurements. An assessment is included. The document is editable and answers are included in the assessment.

This would be a good handout for absent students. It includes notes and examples. It is editable to suit your needs. I used it when I taught multiple courses in one classroom (alternative school)
