These are cards I made with the Close Reading strategies on them. I made them for my student's desks. I printed on cardstock, laminated, and then glued to their desk. By laminating them, the students can reuse them. They can use a dry erase marker to check off each step as they complete it.

This is a template that I use for my students as they write their own article. We had them choose a sea creature and do research on it. They then had to write a newspaper article on that animal. They used this template to type their article in and they could add pictures to it. It is a great resource for writing informational pieces.

This is a graphic organizer I made to keep my anecdotal notes organized during my guided reading groups. There is a place to write your plans for before, during, and after reading. It also has some deep thinking stems you can use to promote higher level thinking with your students.

Students can use this graphic organizer to create their own idioms. They have to draw a picture of their idiom and then use their idiom in a sentence. There is room at the bottom of the page for them to write the meaning of their idiom.

If my students do not have their homework they have to find their sheet in my binder and they have to write down the date, what assignment they don't have, and why they don't have it. I print out a sheet for each student and put them in alphabetical order in a 1inch binder. In the document there is also a matching cover sheet for the front of your binder! :) It is very easy to pull out the student's page when you are having a parent-teacher conference. It holds the students accountable and t

This is a sheet I used with my second graders for when they did not have good behavior. Instead of having to write out what they did and what they did next time, they had a big enough area where they could draw what happened and what they would do next time. Older kids can use this as well and write in the areas instead of drawing a picture. It has a place for their parents to sign at the bottom.

This is a survey that I made that I give to my new students every year on the first day of school. I use it to get more information about them and figure out their likes and dislikes.

This is a unit that my team created to go along with the common core standards for writing. I found the idea on the common core website, but turned it into a unit. It worked great last year! The students use the packet and organizers to write their own narrative from a family member's point of view. Rubric is included.
