About the store

Experience

I have taught from K-12 across all learning areas over the last 20 years, in a range or remote, rural and urban schools. I am a trained specialist teacher in Literacy and Numeracy. I have been teaching secondary maths for the last 10 years.

Teaching style

My teaching style varies greatly depending on the subject and the students. For example, the way I taught year 5 English, is very different to how I would teach a year 9 advanced maths class. In saying that, I teach for understanding. Students need to know the WHY and the HOW before they can properly learn a new skill properly, applying it to an unfamiliar situation. I combine teacher directed instruction with student centred learning and cooperative learning, dependent on the topic and the desired outcome of the lesson. I like to think I take the best bits of all styles!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I am a Level 3 Classroom teacher, which mean I have been recognised in my state for exceptional teaching practice and leadership across the school.

My own education history

I earned a Bachelor of Education, Primary in 2005, before transferring to the high school system in 2012, earning a Graduate Certificate in Mathematics Teaching in 2014. I am completed a Bachelor of Behavioural Sciences (Psychology) in 2016.

Additional biographical information

I have taught a wide varieties and year levels which has taught me a lot about teaching - more than if I had stayed in one grade or subject area my whole career. I love making resources, and I found it very hard to find suitable resources for secondary maths classrooms - so I made my own!
