Poetry Scavenger Hunt
This is a great, fun stations/small group activity that incorporates poetic devices into song lyrics. Students will use the graphic organizer attaches to search through the song lyrics included to find different elements of poetry, and explain the relation to poetry they see in books.
Elements addressed: onomatopoeia, alliteration, simile, metaphor, personification and rhyming words

This power point consists of several teachable note pages describing RL 3.3 and RL 3.7- could be used for RL 2.3 and RL 2.7 also! Several examples to model from and to discuss and complete with a partner. There are also worksheets included that can be used for any text.
