I am currently entering my thirteenth year of teaching. I currently teach CP Biology at two different levels. I enjoy creating resources and working with my students.
Transform your genetics unit with this high-engagement, Gummy Bear Genetics Lab! This includes Mendelian genetics Punnett squares, Incomplete Dominance, Codominance, and Dihybrid Cross Practice. This student-favorite activity moves beyond traditional worksheets, using colorful candy to help students visualize and master complex inheritance patterns. Whether you are teaching basic dominant/recessive traits or challenging dihybrid crosses, this lab provides a tactile way to bring abstract biolog
Boost your middle or high school biology curriculum with this ready-to-use Environmental Science Ecology Quiz. This comprehensive assessment is designed to test student mastery of critical ecological concepts, including food web dynamics, trophic levels, and symbiotic relationships. Whether you are finishing a unit on ecosystems or prepping for state testing, this versatile assessment provides a mix of visual analysis, multiple-choice questions, and critical thinking short answers to ensure
Genetics Test for a college preparatory class. Includes both a writing and scantron (multiple choice section). This test covers topics such as: Mendel, Mendelian genetics, Codominance, Incomplete Dominance, Dihybrid and Monohybrid crosses, Multiple Alleles and Blood Types, Pedigrees and Sex-Linked Traits
This lab is for college prep and honors biology for gram staining. This walks students through the structural difference between gram positive and gram negative as well as how to complete the step by step gram stain. My students will use microscope to determine shape and cluster difference.
Cells Test over cell anatomy and organelles, cell theory, prokaryotes and eukaryotes, and microscopes. This test uses application to knowledge of cells
Students test different foods to see if they are reducing sugars, monosaccharides, or polysaccharides (starch) based on background information. Students work in pairs or groups to do a Benedict's reagent test and an Iodine test.
Includes Pre-lab and Lab
I have students work in groups of 4 and bring in favorite foods for testing. This is what blanks are for in data table.
This is a simulation using Punnet Squares and pedigrees and knowledge that students have gained in a genetics unit. It uses both Mendelian and Non-Mendelian Genetics. Students first will complete the genetic counselor resource assignment which helps them to understand what exactly a genetic counselor does and what their role is when advising patients. Students then go through several simulations in which they are provided a history and they must draw out pedigrees and punnet squares based on
College Preparatory cell test over cell history and theory, organelles, prokaryotes and eukaryotes, and cellular transport including: diffusion, osmosis, facilitated diffusion, and active transport.
Quiz that covers environmental history from the early 1860s to the 1970s. Covers things such as creation of national parks, influential writers, etc. This follows my notes on environmental history and I also show my students "A Fierce Green Fire" Before the quiz.
Covers:
Teddy Roosevelt
Aldo Leopold
Rachel Carson
Earth Day
Gaylord Nelson
George Perkins Marsh
Henry David Thoreau
Antiquities Act
American Forestry Act
Gifford Pinchot
and More...
Test over plasma membrane and cell transport including osmosis, diffusion, facilitated diffusion, active transport, exocytosis, endocytosis, phagocytosis, and pinocytosis.
This is a guided review on macromolecules: nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. Students are to define major concepts from notes or activities done in class. This is done the day prior to the test so the students know how much studying is required of them. It also has open ended questions for students to answer. This package also includes the quest that goes along with the unit on macromolecules which includes a variety of questions including multiple choice, short answer, mat
This is a project for nutrient cycles in which students have guidelines to follow to create a rap. I have my students use music or background and perform it.
This can be edited for lower grades but I use it for a high school level environmental science.
