Hi, I'm Caralene (Cara) Hanania. My one-love is Ceramics. I have been working in the ceramics industry for over 12 years. I loved it so much that I wanted to share the love of the art with the world. I knew I wanted to teach high school art and ceramics at a very young age. I have experience teaching high school 2D Art and Ceramics. I received my Bachelor's of Studio Arts (ceramics emphasis) at CSULB, My single-subject teaching credential from CSULB, and my Masters of Education- Instructional Technology at National University. I have taught art and ceramics at the high school level for over 5 years. My first year of teaching was 2020 during the pandemic when we were fully online. In the 5 years, I have taught Art 1, Art 2, Art 3, AP 2D Art&Design, Ceramics 1, Ceramics 2, Ceramics 3, and next year will be introducing AP 3D Art! Since the start of the pandemic, I came into retired teacher's classrooms with nothing left behind. I had to make all my own curriculum! Teaching style

I am passionate about hands-on learning and putting students at the center of the classroom experience. When introducing a project, students will always sketch, interpret, analyze, and evaluate artworks throughout history in their sketchbooks. Students will brainstorm their own ideas with guided worksheets in their sketchbooks. These ideas will be talked-through/approved by me before they get started. I will demonstrate how to create the artwork either live or through past recorded videos. Students willl have independent practice building their project. I move around the room, offering individualized support and guidance. We end the project with gallery walks&group/peer critiques with rubrics.
