Because there are 8+ spoken languages in my classroom, it’s so important that I am creative, flexible and offer differentiation to meet the varying needs of my high school students. I love to provide students choices in how they master a skill or standard. Through this, I also love to make students productively struggle. The famous, “ohhhhhhh” when a student comes to understand something is music to my ears. With that, my classroom is set up where we learn a concept together as a class, review an example or two, then send students off to explore own their own in small groups to extend their learning even further, increasing complexity with each step forward.
