Experience
I have taught for 10 years teaching everything from 5th grade to 1st. I have worked in public and charter schools in California and moved across the world for the adventure of a lifetime to teach at an International School in Germany. I have experience with the Common Core, the IB and the Primary Years Program.
Teaching style
As an avid International traveler, an ex-pat and now the mother of a bilingual, multicultural daughter, I believe the world has so much to teach us and I want to give my students to tools to learn about the world.
I believe that those doing the thinking are the ones doing the learning and therefore I aim to create lessons which are project-based and open-ended to get my students doing the thinking.

My own education history
I grew up in Northern California playing teacher to a class full of teddy bears and dolls. Then I moved south to attend the University of California San Diego where I was a lifeguard, taught swim lessons and ran my own Annual Summer Camp.
At the University of California San Diego, I double-majored in Communications and Political Science and found my true calling to be in education. While attending college classes, I found that it was during my interaction with children that I felt most alive and without looking back I decided to earn my Masters in Education and become an elementary school teacher.
I am currently living out my childhood dream teaching 1st grade and living with my wonderful husband and active toddler in Germany.
Additional biographical information
When I am not teaching, I am chasing a toddler, sharing cuddles, reading books, hiking with family and traveling whenever possible. The days are full, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
