I love having student jobs in my classroom! I actually found a job for each of my students to take ownership of and had them fill out an application for it. Students would indicate their top 3 job choices as part of the application, and then I would hire each of them for a position. Each year my 5th graders learn about businesses and economy. We talk about supply and demand, profit and loss, and stalks as we lead into our unit on The Great Depression.
After our unit on Business we go on a field trip to Krispy Kreme donuts - there happens to be one close by. Any business operation (donut, or other) would work for this field trip questionnaire!

The large Calendar I purchased from Lakeshore did not come with any way to indicate spacial holidays and events happening during the month. So I made these! They are small circles that I print, laminate, and glue onto small clothespins. I can then easily pin them onto the calendar days to help my class know what is coming up.
