This is a rubric that I use in my classroom during Reader's Workshop time. The students have to respond TWO times a week, but I only grade one a week with this rubric. It includes a part about pulling evidence from the text which directly aligns with the Common Core. It has worked out great with the students and the wording is very kid-friendly.

This product can be used with ANY subject area! You could make an ABC book about a content area for a formal assessment, or you could even use it to make a memory book of the school year! The students absolutely LOVE being able to write and then color pictures to show their individual thinking!

This product allows students to list the character they are explaining, the trait they are using to describe them, and then a spot to write in the evidence from the text that supports their thinking. The Common Core Standards are pushing students to use evidence to support their ideas, this is a great product to guide students in that direction!
