About the store

Experience

I have taught 11 different science classes, including Biology, AP Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science at the middle and high school levels at both private and public schools. I have worked professionally in education since 2005 when I was a tutor for athletes at the University of New Hampshire and worked as a wilderness canoe guide at Keewaydin Temagami, in Temagami Ontario. I worked in outdoor and environmental education for 4 years before moving into the classroom in 2009.

Teaching style

I always try to make my teaching relevant to my students. For example, I don't just teaching about mitosis and the cell cycle in Biology. Instead, I teach my students about cancer, and focus on how problems with the cell cycle lead to cancer. My preferred teaching style is progressive and project-based. However, I am very flexible and use a variety of techniques to engage my students.

My own education history

I have two degrees from the University of New Hampshire: A B.S. in Marine and Freshwater Biology, and an M. Ed. in Secondary Education.
