I am currently in my 6th full year teaching Kindergarten. The first year at the "big school" is very exciting; I love to see all the growth students make the first year in Elementary. I also have experience working with Pre-K, 3rd grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. I find it exciting, no matter the age, to change and learn everyday from working with a group of students.

Our Kindergarten Report Card is a Common Core Standards/GLCEs based report card, based on a quarter system for grading. Throughout the marking periods the card shows growth by highlighting with the marking period color as students show Kindergarten mastery of concepts. The Report Card includes a Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Social Growth and Development, Writing Rubric, Reading Rubric, Data Sheet, and Comment Section.

Mathematics Common Core Checklist
This is an excel format of the Mathematics Common Core. Some of the standards are broken down into multiple items to be checked off. It is one of the items I have used to track a student's growth in mathematics; I use it to make sure all items are being taught as well as evaluated to ensure they are ready for 1st grade. I print it and put it into a binder to mark off as I assess items.

Experience
I am currently in my 6th full year teaching Kindergarten. The first year at the "big school" is very exciting; I love to see all the growth students make the first year in Elementary. I also have experience working with Pre-K, 3rd grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. I find it exciting, no matter the age, to change and learn everyday from working with a group of students.
Teaching style
My teaching style is a blend of hands-on learning, blended learning, and traditional teaching. For my lessons I introduce the concept, model expectations, guide practice, and then students complete independent practice. I use whole group practice, but with leveled student work to better fit the learner. Currently I am running my days with centers based learning for my morning block with multiple organized areas similar to Montessori. The group of learners I currently have work best with this type of organization. I am really loving it also!
My own education history
I have a Bachelor's Degree from Northern Michigan University in Elementary Education with minors in Mathematics and Science. Currently, I am working towards a Masters to become a Reading Specialist.
