Daily Behavior Chart

This daily behavior chart has been a "go to" resource of mine for 6 years. It is in a simple text with our schools Step-Up/Step-Down color system. There is a chart that identifies the concerns that occurred for that day and a section for parents to initial that they have seen the behavior that was shown during the school day. On the bottom there is a section for teachers and parents to ask questions and write short notes (changes in who will be picking the student up, where the lunch money is, e

Theme 1: Daily Slides

This slide based template has helped me out the past three years. While I have made some changes to it throughout the years, it is something I feel is beyond helpful. It not only keeps me on track, but allows my students to have everything they need to be successful during work time and our mini-lesson time. This also helps your administration see your lesson plans without having to type up separate ones, minimizing your workload.  Have absent students? No need to worry you can easily upload a s

Daily Sticker Chart

This is a chart used for students as a motivator to stay on track throughout the day and make good/positive choices. It also allows the teacher and parent keep track when the student is having a routine of being on their best behavior and their not so good behavior. I have used this to help keep track of documentation when I am setting up a behavior IEP and just to help a student and their parents see what they need to improve on.

Robot Nonfiction Reader's Theater

We often see Reader's Theater with fairytales and fictional stories. I thought it would be fun to take a nonfiction passage and create a Reader's Theater so that the kids can not only practice their fluency, but also enlighten the rest of the class with useful information. There are 8 Narrators who are talking amongst one another to help spread quality information about robots.

Metaphors & Similes Tic-Tac-Toe

As a teacher who is 100% virtual this year, and the only one on my team who is virtual I needed to create something that would allow my students to step away from the computer and truly dive into the understanding of what metaphors and similes were. These choice boards allow them to either unplug from the internet and discuss/create with their family the many different types of metaphors and similes or stay connected to the internet and explore/create to show their understandings. This is also a great piece of documentation for consistent Parent Contact. I keep these at the end of each week and place them in each students folder that I have communicated positive and/or negative behavior.

Teaching style

I am a mixture of old-school meets new-school type of teaching. I am a firm, but loving teacher and one that enjoys letting loose and playing around with my students. I let them see me cry and I allow myself to let them know when I am upset with them and more so I let them know when I am proud of them and our class. I have tried to venture into groups, but enjoy having a bit more control over my class. I hope one day I can find a nice balance between the two.
