I can use properties to simplify expressions. 6.EE.3 I can use the Distributive Property to compute multiplication problems mentally and to rewrite algebraic expressions. 6.EE.3, 6.NS.4 Students cut and paste the table into their interactive math notebook. As a class we then went through and added examples of each property. Students then draw an interpretation of their own to demonstrate the meaning of the property.

This set of 16 task cards covers calculating volume of rectangular prisms. These are aligned with common core standard 6.G.2. This packet also includes a recording sheet with room for students to show their work and answer sheet. These cards are great for math centers, independent practice, partner work and other cooperative learning models. I have even taped one set around the room and had students moving together with a partner from problem to problem. They love it!

Tic-tac-toe, three in a row! Students must choose three different activities to complete for each weeks spelling words. Their choices must connect like tic-tac-toe (down, across, diagonal). This includes three different choice boards for students to compete/choose from.

Students move throughout the room completing problems. These can also be used as a task card set. However, to make it quicker, put one on each desk and have student rotate when you tell them to do so. They really enjoy this when I turn music on while they work.

Each week my students get a new reading log. I like to use this one because it has them write a response to what they read, each time they read. This helps students work on comprehension as well as retell.
