About the store
I have been teaching for eight years at a school in Charleston, SC. I started my career teaching 7th and 8th-grade math and now have been teaching 6th-grade math and science for seven years. I enjoy teaching both subjects during the day and correlating standards across the curriculum in all subjects.

Estimating Quotients using compatible numbers worksheet

Have students make examples of numbers that are compatible with each other (using the heart symbol), and numbers that are not compatible (using the crossed out heart). This practice helps them get ready to complete the rest of the worksheet.

Pumpkin Circle Graphs notebook

One day I realized that pumpkins look much like a circle graph from the bottom or the top, so I created this notebook file to go along with a Halloween activity. The students love the activity, which asks them opinion questions for the statistics and teaches them how to graph an ACCURATE circle graph. ENJOY!

Box and whisker plots notebook

This notebook file can be used on its own or with the box and whisker mask activity worksheet that is also on my page. It is interactive and breaks down box and whisker plots for middle school students with a fun activity!

Box and Whisker Masks Activity

This is especially fun around Halloween, but can be done anytime of the year. Students use a basic piece of statistical data (I like to use the shoe sizes of the students) to record data, and find the parts of the box and whisker plots. Finally, we plot the data on a paper mask (preferably an animal with whiskers), using the box and whisker plot as the "whiskers" on the animal mask. You can use Popsicle sticks or string to secure them or just display them in the hallway!

Experience

I have been teaching for eight years at a school in Charleston, SC. I started my career teaching 7th and 8th-grade math and now have been teaching 6th-grade math and science for seven years. Teaching style

* Problem-based learning is very exciting for middle school students! It gives them ownership and purpose in their learning. *Personalized Learning with differentiation is something that all teachers strive for as well as rigor. *Blended learning and with station models, digital and face-to-face, flipped classroom, and ITS programs.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was teacher of the month for October 2014 and September 2015. I have been nominated for teacher of the year from 2013-2019. I have been in the local newspaper and on news broadcasts for a problem based project that I assigned my students. I have also received countless forms of recognition from my students, peers, and administrators throughout the years, which, in my opinion, is the highest honor of all.

My own education history
