Building and designing a marble roller coaster. This is a great activity for motion and forces for middle and high school students. Students use foam pipe insulation to design a roller coaster with hills, a loop and a curve. Students must problem solve to overcome the forces of gravity and centripetal forces to get a marble to the end of the track. Students also measure and calculate speed and acceleration at different points within the roller coaster.

Student Data Record Keeping is an excel file used to record student progress. With the current changes in teacher evaluations, this file would provide a record of student progress of content mastery, reading mastery, standard mastery, etc. that can be easily interpreted by your evaluator. If students come to the board on a regular basis to write information or work a problem, I would recommend this contract. Students understand that it is a privilege and not a right when they sign the contract. It works as a great tool for classroom management.
