Matching Speed and Acceleration Graphs Matching Worksheets, Card Sorts with Key

This activity has students sorting speed and acceleration graphs based on the motion of the graphs. This is very successful way to have students analyze the graphs to see that the same lines on a graph mean different things. This lesson really engaged my students as well as address misconceptions about reading graphs. Students recorded their answers on a worksheet that they used as a study guide for their summative. These can be used as flash cards.

Exploring Motion Notes

Students will explore distance over time graphs. They will explore, no motion, constant speed, fast constant speed, acceleration, deceleration, and returning to the origin in this activity. Student initially guess what they think the graphs will look like. I have them use marker so they can really see how their learning changes. I have this document set-up to print 2-1 page, which is why the second page says glue on it. I have my student glue it into their science notebooks. Download the Power
