This Comprehension Packet is for the Book Island of the Aunts. This is my favorite children's novel! It is a level 5.9. In this packet I included a mix of Before, During, and After Reading Strategies. This packet has a vocabulary focus, and comprehension questions included for every set of chapters. The packet is set to have students read 2 chapters at a time. The comprehension questions and activities involve writing (no multiple choice). Activities include: KWL, RAFTs, Vocabulary Cluster, Illu
This product includes discussion questions and a reflection question for each chapter of Stamped For Kids. It functions similar to a novel study. There is not an answer key. I answered questions along with students as we went over chapters together. I did some chapters whole class, some where students worked with a partner, and some in small groups.
This question is designed to look like a Virginia 4th Grade SOL Math question where students "click and drag" the correct place value name to the matching digit. Students write the correct name beside the corresponding digit. Every value is included from the Millions place to the Thousandths place. Great for review. Room is left at the bottom for students to draw their own place value chart. (only 1 question)
Directions (listed in game as well):
Form 2 teams.
Team 1 goes first and sees what fitness slide they land on. Teacher will give Team 1 a problem verbally. Team 1 will solve and write their answer on their whiteboard. If they are correct, they receive a point and Team 2 has to complete the fitness activity. If they are incorrect, team two gets a chance to steal. If Team 2 gets it correct, they steal the point, and Team 1 has to do the fitness activity. (If both teams solve incorrectly, they bo
This Reading Choices Board can work for any book. Students can pick any boxes as long at they total 10 points. Boxes are worth either 1, 2, 3, or 5 points. As the value of points increases, the amount of effort and time increases. This choices board focuses on many important concepts including: characters, summarizing, vocabulary, main idea, making inferences/drawing conclusions, and more. This choices board gives students many opportunities to draw, color, build, create, and write.
This packet has pages full of problems that progressively get harder. It starts with 2 by 1 problems, then 3 by 1, then 2 by 2. Students first solve using the box method (array method) and then the algorithm. This allows them to compare the two and check their work. I used this for independent practice, and it was very helpful for my students.
These sentences require students to place the commas in the correct places. Some sentences need commas, while others do not. I cut these apart and put them over the projector for students to complete. Students wrote their answers on a whiteboard. These sentences could also be numbered and used as Task Cards.
This worksheet is great for small groups or an independent formative assessment. I used this with small groups and let groups compete to see who could get the most correct.
This practice sheet allows students to compare side by side how to fix run-on sentences with a conjunction or introductory clause. It also provides a word bank for students. This sheet has three side by side examples. I did this with students whole group, and cut the examples apart to show over the projector. Students wrote their answers on a white board. This is a quick and easy comparison practice to do with students to show them sentence variety.
This writing goal setting resource is designed to help students write individual writing goals, create a plan to achieve their goal, and track their progress. Students can track their progress using their writing assignments, and can check if they met their goal that day, or if they went back and edited/revised their writing to meet their goal. This resource is great for individual goal setting, and student led conferences with a teacher or parent.
This Menu of Options is perfect to use with any book! Students pick two appetizers, one entree, and one dessert. It includes the topics: vocabulary, setting, author's purpose, fiction vs. nonfiction, main idea, summarizing, problem/solution, characters, and compare/contrast. This is a great way to check for comprehension through writing and creating.
This Tic-Tac-Toe Reading Choices Board is perfect for grades 4-6. It is designed to work with any book. Students can pick any three boxes in a row. It covers: characters, summarizing, making inferences/drawing conclusions, setting, vocabulary, problem/solution, and author's purpose. Overall, it is designed to help students with comprehension in a fun way that has them writing, drawing, and creating. I plan to use this over a three week span with my fourth graders. Works great as a time filler if
This sheet features three identical entrance slips. Students have three sentences to complete. Students must place the commas in the correct place. Students are not told how many commas each sentence needs, that is for them to figure out.

This set of 3 identical Entrance Slips features 6 sentences on where/wear/we're/were there/their/they're and to/two/too. Students circle the correct one for each sentence. This is a great formative assessment once all three homophones have been taught.
This features two identical exit slips to cut apart. There are two parts to complete on this exit slip. For the first one, students finish the Introductory Clause. For the second one, students create their own sentence using one of the words from the word bank. Great quick formative assessment for when students are being introduced to the concept.
This worksheet is great for small groups or an independent formative assessment. I used it for a small group activity and students loved getting to finish the story with their group. Students took turns writing sentences, and the stories were hilarious. It would be fun to let the students share their stories at the end of the activity.
This Measurement Study Sheet is perfect for students to study with in school and at home. Was made for ELL students, but could help any student. Features a few practice problems at the bottom.
