We often teach these as the 'give and take' and 'give and give/take and take' strategies. This game will allow them to decide and put them to the test. If the equations balance, they will have chosen the correct strategy. If not, they'll have to try a different one for the next round. Game spinners use 3 digi

Teaching style

I always look to find a creative, multi-sensory angle in a lesson or concept and usually push my students to find and make their own meaning, which I confirm for them if/when needed. When students are begging "can we please do that again??!!" I know I've done my job! Having majored in art and education when I began my classroom teaching career, I've often tried to infuse the two. With the shift in math education over the past few years, I'm seeing the link more and more clearly every day!
