About the store
I have been teaching in New York City for fifteen years. My students are predominantly English Language Learners from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of the students find my school to be the second or third elementary school of their careers thus far, and often have patterns of lateness and absenteeism. These are the children I love, and these are the children who sorely need a day that will both educate and inspire! Routines are welcomed, and talking is a must...language skills need to be developed rapidly. Though it is tempting to water down curriculum, I like to introduce as much academic language as possible, using colorful pictures and boldface fonts to help with meaning in longer sentences, so that understanding is not lost...but neither is exposure! Every day is a challenge, is it not? I create a lot of my own material to supplement our textbooks, as budgets have been cut, and our current math program is not aligned to the new Common Core Standards. I hope that I can save you that step of having to create some of these packets...You may be short on time this week...I'm sure you have class data that your administration wants you to analyze, right?

These math word problem worksheets are Common Core-aligned, and focus on multiplication and division word problems in which students must identify the correct expression to be used to solve each word problem. I have used these math worksheets successfully with my third grade class of inner-city students. Many of my students are English Language Learners, and most need extra support in Math. Word problems are particularly difficult for those learning a new language. I have found that the Show It

Test prep, test prep, test prep! Division word problem skills...Multiplication word problem skills...More division, more multiplication...We all cringe at the words "test prep," yet we can't deny that repeated practice of a skill is an effective way to master it. The new Common Core Standards promise a new challenge for our math students, and Common Core-aligned materials are a must. With skills like multiplication and division, I find my third graders need all the practice they can get! (And my

I have used all three worksheets successfully with my third grade class, which is in an inner-city neighborhood, and has a large English Language Learner population. My students need a lot of support and repetition for mathematical success, and I have found these worksheets, which have skill work on one side and real-world problems on the other, to be particularly helpful. (I print them front and back to save paper...and to save space in my bag when I take them home to grade, haha!) There are
