Experience

I have 30+ years of teaching experience: 21 years middle school; 9 years 4th thru 6th grade all subjects. I have been teaching long enough to administer three different state standardized tests. I taught elementary school for nine years and have been teaching middle school for 21 years. Although I have taught all subjects, I now teach middle school science, which I enjoy immensely!

Teaching style

Since I attended middle and high school when instructors lectured to rather than allowed students to participate, I teach more with hands-on and inquiry lessons with inclusion of other core subjects to make real life connections. I use varied methods to review that include differentiated learning and group labs and projects. I try to teach students to problem-solve and ask questions that make them think outside the box.
