An excellent STEM project to explore equations and inequalities, while also using creativity and engineering! Student develop and plan a marshmallow bridge, purchase materials from you using an imaginary budget, and then construct it over the next couple of days. At the end, the students create a poster of their design and thinking. It's an extremely fun project and the students really enjoy the hands on approach to working with money and mathematics. Students learn about power functions, their characteristics, and their applications. Students will learn how these functions can be found in different areas like medicine and zoology through the study of allometry. There are three parts to this project: 1) Students research allometry and body surface area (BSA) 2) Students work in groups of 3 to learn about power functions 3) Students create a poster to display what they have learned Grading rubric included!
