Counting Corner

You will be designing and constructing a stained glass window with various geometric requirements. A budget will be implemented based on color choices. A wonderful project to get the students working with their hands and expressing their creativity, all while deepening their geometric skills and understandings.

An excellent STEM project to explore equations and inequalities, while also using creativity and engineering! Student develop and plan a marshmallow bridge, purchase materials from you using an imaginary budget, and then construct it over the next couple of days. At the end, the students create a poster of their design and thinking. It's an extremely fun project and the students really enjoy the hands on approach to working with money and mathematics. A fun twist on probabilities! Pin the tail on the donkey, math-style! Students will calculate various probabilities based on donkey shapes and target areas.

Performance task consists of 3 different scenarios in which surface area and volume must be optimized while working in various packaging plants. This project offers real-world perspectives and gets students thinking about geometry outside of the classroom.

Students will apply their knowledge of right triangles to real world situations. The first half of the project is identifying right triangles in real world structures and analyzing their properties.
