I am a Speech and Language Pathologist who has the pleasure of working with students of all grade levels for the past 12 years in the schools. I enjoy teaching the most when the most sticky abstract concepts are understood by all.
Included are three bundled activities for students to learn about topic sentences:
-The first is studying the topic sentence by coding key words and stating our prediction about what the article will talk about. Getting into the habit of recognizing a topic sentence and predicting is key to active reading and comprehending text.
-The second is cutting out topic sentences and matching them with a paragraph. This helps with critical thinking about whether the content matches a topic/main idea.

ELA Test Prep, Informational Text, Writing-Expository
This is a resource for the teacher who loves figurative language and inspiring a love of language in students. There is one very full page per season and the amount and flexibility of the blanks increases over the year shifting more cognitive load to the students. This can be used as a worksheet, center activity, or easily broken up into a warm ups, or tickets out the door.
