A simple checklist for revising (ARMS) and editing (CUPS). You could give this to students whole, but I personally like to cut it in half and give each checklist separately. This is completely editable!
A retelling hand activity for lower level writers as well as those with more experience. For lower level writers have them use the copy with lines on the side so they have more room to write. For higher level writers have them write their retelling in the fingers of the hand. Also included is an activity idea for an example. The students could cut out the example hand and glue it to a popsicle stick so they can pull it easily for a reference.
A sheet for your students to write down the books they read during the summer.
I am using this as group incentive in my daycare class, but it could also be an individual activity for students during the summer.
A simple flipbook for the students to record their predictions of books they read with a section for their reasoning for their prediction and what actually happened in the book.
You can cut these out and glue them onto another piece of paper to construct the flipbook.
