About the store
I have been a special education teacher for the past twenty-five years. I am a very strong supporter of creating rich educational experiences for all students. However, students need access to instructionally appropriate materials in order to benefit from such an environment. I have always been frustrated by the lack of resources available to special education teachers who are supporting students in such rigorous educational environments. My lessons, outlines and study guides reflect years of work centering on creating positive and meaningful educational experiences for my students.

I created this to give kids a resource to help them communicate effectively with both their friends and the adults in their lives. Compound Words

Getting older students to work towards improving their spelling skills is no easy feat. By the time they reach middle school, struggling readers and writers have spent countless hours trying to memorize spelling words for their weekly tests just to forget them days later! I have always been a fan of Patricia Cunningham’s Phonics They Use and Month by Month Phonics books. One activity I learned from Ms. Cunningham’s work that my students are particularly fond of is the study of compound words.

Fantasy for Struggling Readers and Writers

Fantasy is a favorite unit for our readers and writers for good reason- there is an incredible selection of fantasy series available to youngsters these days.
