About the store
My goal here at Creative Physics is to help students think outside the box and have fun. As a tutor of physics and math at the high school and college levels, I am aware of both common pitfalls and opportunities for extension activities. I have made several resources to help my students understand concepts better, get more practice, and play around with real-world applications. I will be sharing them here! :)

Algebra Review for Physics: A Thorough Walkthrough

This 18-page guide is a thorough handout that teaches students the algebra necessary for physics. Building on the most basic topics, it covers the skills needed to solve equations, substitute, plug in numbers, and get the units right. It serves as a good refresher for all students at the start of the school year or for those who are struggling with the math. It can also be a reference guide if students are not sure where they are going wrong. Great for: An algebra-based physics courseHigh school

Essential Math for Physics: Reference Sheet

This is a handy math reference sheet for physics students struggling with the math involved in physics, or with any physics students. The reference sheet covers many mathematical tools used in a high school physics class, like factoring, squaring a fraction with multiple variables, and trigonometry. Contains: 2-page reference sheet

Introduction to Calendars Worksheet - Days of the Week, Months of the Year

I saw a need for this while doing a math problem with second graders who didn't know what a weekday was. So, I made this quick, freebie worksheet. Hopefully this will help others the way it has helped my second graders to fill in basic gaps in their knowledge. Let me know if you want more like this.

Experience

My goal here at Creative Physics is to help students think outside the box and have fun. As a tutor of physics and math at the high school and college levels, I am aware of both common pitfalls and opportunities for extension activities. I have made several resources to help my students understand concepts better, get more practice, and play around with real-world applications. I will be sharing them here! :)

Teaching style

I meet each student where they are at. This often means explaining a topic in a different way or going back to review prerequisite skills. With more advanced students, I can introduce new, creative applications. In all cases, I challenge students to truly understand what we are doing.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My favorite moments are watching students' faces light up as they say "Ohhhh!" and finally get it!

My own education history

With a Bachelors and Masters in Mechanical Engineering, I understand many applications of physics and math and use these to help my students.

Additional biographical information

Outside of teaching, I love dancing and arts and crafts like sewing, knitting, and crocheting. I sometimes incorporate these into teaching physics and math because they provide great, fun real world applications. (Dance: forces, torque, angular momentum; sewing: thinking in 3D, geometry nets; knitting/crochet: polar vs. rectangular coordinates, counting, skip counting, and multiplication for younger students, surface area and volume, slope (increase/decrease).) I believe there are applications of physics and math all around us, and harnessing those can make these subjects more understandable, relatable, and fun. I have been tutoring physics at the high school and college levels for three years. I have been tutoring math at the kindergarten through college levels for two years. I have also tutored students in reading at the primary school level, taught environmental science in a second grade classroom, and taught environmental science at an outdoor nature camp to 5-14 year olds. Additionally, I've taught classes I created from scratch on solutions to climate change and on emotional intelligence to high schoolers.
