Systems of Inequalities Art - Algebra Activity -

Are you looking for a creative way to show that your students understand systems of linear inequalities? Tired of all of the same worksheets? I created this activity for my class in an effort to make the shading of "half-planes" a little bit more exciting. I was surprised at how well my class did with this activity and think that it would be effective in your class as well. The basic concept is that you will have them graph a total of 6 inequalities and shade accordingly. Even though it looks

Graphing Systems of Linear Equations in Color - Activity with Key

Are you tired of the using the same old workbook pages to teach systems of equations? This assignment will add a splash of color in your classroom! It this activity students will graph 8 lines using 8 different colors. (Even the most mature algebra student enjoys using some colored pencils and markers to spice up their homework!) Once the lines are graphed then the students will answer 30 questions about the various intersection points. This is a great activity for students who need a refre

GPS Simulation - Applications of Algebra and Geometry - Aligned with Numb3rs

Are you tired of hearing your students say "When would you ever use this!?" This lesson is a perfect way to silence their complaints! I originally designed this lesson to be used after watching the episode "Convergence"of the CBS television series Numb3rs. I think every middle/HS teacher should own copies of this series. If you aren't familiar with the show, it is basically a crime show where the characters solve crimes with math. (Similar to CSI) You might be able to download free episodes

Algebra: Printable Systems of Inequalities Coloring Packet

Are your kids struggling with systems of inequalities? Are they bored with all of the traditional book work? This 16-problem packet will give your students practice graphing systems of inequalities but allow them to have fun while they do it! This packet gives 4 examples to start and reviews the rules for shading half-planes as well as the rules for solid or dotted lines. The last 4 examples are practice problems that include horizontal and vertical lines which create "no solution" proble

Geometry: Law of Detachment Printable Practice Worksheet w/ Key

Are your students having trouble with the Law of Detachment when they are working with formal logic? Most students are good and determining whether statements are true or false but they struggle with determining whether or not statements are valid or invalid based on the Law of Detachment. This document contains 20 basic statements that the students analyze to determine if the conjecture is valid or invalid. For example they are set up as follows: If Bob cuts the lawn he will earn $10 from his

Concurrent Points in Triangles - Geometer's Sketchpad Mini Lesson

Having trouble teaching the concepts of Circumcenter, Incenter, Centroid and and Orthocenter? Are you students getting frustrated with all of the different steps? After teaching this lesson for many years in a row I have noticed that even as a teacher I have trouble remembering which segments go with which concurrent point. As a result I have come up with the acronym "PAMACICO" which when written as two columns helps the kids memorize which pieces go together. P goes with C which means that P
