I'm an international school teacher with 17 years experience and have taught predominantly within the International Baccalaureate curriculum, but also have experience with the French AEFE and American curricular systems. My students are a mix of native English speakers and EAL students from around the world. I currently teach middle school Geography and creative writing but have experience teaching English Language and Literature to all levels from Grade 1-12 (PYP, DP) and have also taught adult EAL classes.
In order to guide the students towards the possibilities of what to analyze within literature, I created this one-pager to assist them with terms and ideas to consider. While not fully comprehensive, it certainly gave them a place to start and ideas to foster their process of unpacking literary works.
This one-pager attempts to boil down into bitesize terms what examiners are looking for within each criterion of the Individual Oral. The language here is drawn from IB resources but has been modified and reworded to reflect my interpretations.
A one-pager to explain the expectations in each criterion for paper 1 in DP literature.
