Students are reviewing keywords for positive and negative integers. Students are all given a card. I had the person with "I have 14" to begin. Go through the room until you get to the situation that can be represented by 14.
The students absolutely love an opportunity to do something different. In this activity the students get a chance to choose the problems to be worked and they get to throw a ball at the smart board. Each circle is linked to a different question. (If for some reason your students cannot throw the ball accurately they can go to the board and select the question they want to show on the screen.)

Students are given a number line to put together and about 30 integers to place on it. This activity is to see students prior knowledge. Before any gluing takes place have a quick discussion and monitor student work to make sure all integers are in their correct location.
Afterwards, I had students like at least 4 things they noticed about the numbers on the number line.
