This can be used as a summative assessment or final project for The Giver. This project requires students to put on the shoes of a member of the community and create a Brochure advertising the community. Students are asked to recall rules, assignments, and other specifics about the community as well as using their own creativity to create this brochure. Attached is a rubric as well as an example brochure.

This worksheet was made to be used as a pre-reading activity to the short story "The Two Brothers" by Leo Tolstoy. This activity includes the 4 proverbs that the elder and younger brother use when determining if they are going to embark on the adventure to find happiness. In this activity, the students are asked to write down what they think each of the proverbs means, and then they are asked to research each proverb. This can be done in partners or individually.
