This is a summative assessment project for the Scarlet Letter. This is a two part project. The first part of this project is an essay. It asks students to explain how if they were required to wear a letter for a mistake that they had made, what would it be? It requires them to go back to the text and compare how they would feel to specific events where Hester was looked down upon or scrutinized based on her situation. There is a rubric provided in the directions.

I created this three-part budgeting activity for my Practical Math class. I went online and found a weekly advertisement for a local grocery store and used that for this assignment. However, if you have access to newspapers at your school, you could use any weekly ad from a grocery store for this activity.
The first of the assignments is a basic introduction to the activity, they must look through the advertisement and can pick ANYTHING they want to eat for dinner. In this first assignment,

This activity was made to be done after completion of the short story "The Monkey's Paw." Students are asked to use an "8 1/2 x 11" size piece of paper, and create a colorful warning label that would deter anyone from ever using the Paw if they crossed paths with it. By completing this assignment, students will show their creativity and also show their comprehension of the story since most of the warnings are taken from events fro

This is a worksheet that can be used in a Consumer Math class. There are 7 questions on this worksheet and each one gives 3 bits of information:
1) How much money you make an hour?
2) The hours you worked in the morning.
3) The hours you worked in the afternoon.
Students are asked to use this information to calculate how much money they would make in a day. I have no included taxes in these problems, I felt like that would be better suited for an activity later in the year. This is simply
This is an assignment used in a History class. It asks students to do research into their heritage, and create a powerpoint presentation answering certain questions asked on the instructions. This DOES NOT ask students to look specifically into their personal heritage.
For example, I am half Italian, so if I were asked to complete this assignment I would do a research project on Italian Immigration to America.

This creative assignment asks students to create 5 different "Help Wanted" posters for specific jobs throughout American History. This assignment can either be used during a specific time in America or it can be used for students to review previous times covered throughout the class.
Each poster is worth 20 points which in the end will total 100 points. I graded my students on creativity and color for 10 points, and another 10 points for historical accuracy.
It is important to use this activity BEFORE you read the story because some of the vocabulary is difficult, so if the students complete this activity they will be more familiar with the vocabulary when they read the story.

One column is for the recipe to be doubled and the other column is for the recipe to be made 4 times bigger.
This project can be an individual or group project. This assignment gives the students the option of choosing one of three different types of pyramids. They must include specific information about the pyramids and translate that information onto a poster. There is a rubric attached to the directions. One of the pieces of the rubric is for group work, so that may need to be omitted if you are assigning this as an individual project.
In the directions, it states that this is the first part
This activity can be used for any Character analysis work. This specific example is about creating a Vertical Name Poem for the two main characters in "The Gift of the Magi," Della and James. To set up this poem students must write either name vertically down the side of their paper. They must write a sentence or a word (depending on academic level) that starts with one of the letters of their name. This is difficult to explain, which is why I provided an example on the worksheet. The poem
