Polynomial Graph Exploration Activity

I use this activity as an introduction to our Polynomial Functions unit. Students graph different functions in Desmos, then answer questions about patterns they observe and make predictions about other functions based on these patterns. I grade this for completion, as they haven't been taught key features yet, but this could easily be adapted as a review or assessment of key features of polynomials.

Retirement Simulation

Many retirement resources help students learn strategies to save for retirement, but not many show students what it’s like to live off retirement income. In fact, many adults do not have a grasp of this concept. I created this Retirement Simulation to help students see what it’s like to live off retirement savings. This activity can be done in groups or individually. For this instruction sheet, I have written down instructions based on each student working individually and receiving their own c

Discussion Forum Rubric

Discussion forums are a great assignment, even if you don't teach English. They are used in a wide variety of college classes, so it is a great idea to get students familiarized with them now. Typically, college classes require students to make an initial post by a certain date, then two replies by a later date. Posts and responses must use academic vocabulary, correct spelling and grammar, and be of a sufficient depth. Replies need to be more than just "I agree" or "I disagree" - they should ad
