Financial Quest Project (Summative Assessment for Exponents and Logs) - Common C

Are you looking for a project to help students connect logarithms and exponents to the real world, as well as learn some real-world financial skills along the way? This project was created to use as a summative assessment at the end of a logarithms and exponents unit. Pascal's Triangle/Fibonacci Sequence Math Art Project

This is a great activity for a fun/artistic day in math to help connect students to math in new ways! It also works as a great sub activity. All you need are these instructions and some construction paper for students to use to make the circles (compasses may also assist for drawing and measuring circles). This a such a fun activity to see students' creative sides come out. This listing was updated to include an answer key with the diameter and radius circle measures for all 8 circles, as well

Polynomial Graph Exploration Activity

I use this activity as an introduction to our Polynomial Functions unit. Students graph different functions in Desmos, then answer questions about patterns they observe and make predictions about other functions based on these patterns. I grade this for completion, as they haven't been taught key features yet, but this could easily be adapted as a review or assessment of key features of polynomials.

Personal Polynomial Project

In this project, students will use their personal information to create three different polynomial equations that relate to them. They will then print the graphs and color in different sections to express their personality. This is a good review of key features of polynomial equations in a format that encourages creativity and expression. A rubric is included with instructions and examples.

Notes for Sketching Polynomials

The attached document are the notes I give my students to help remember the steps to sketch polynomials. I hand write my example so they can see all my steps, so feel free to fill in the example on your own at the bottom of the page!
