This is currently my sixth year as a classroom teacher. My first three years were spent teaching a self contained 5th grade class. My last three years I have been teaching in a self contained 3rd grade classroom.
This listing is a complete workbook covering parts of a nonfiction book. The book is set up for four lessons, one each on titles, table of contents, index, and glossary. There is also two pages of review at the end of the workbook for students to practice the skills, or to be used as an assessment. This handout can be used as an independent practice, homework, or assessment. The pages cover third grade ELA standard RW1.7. Handout includes several dictionary entries with questions that require students to use the entry and context of a sentence to determine the meaning of a multiple meaning word. The format of the questions matches how the standard is tested on the CST. This handout can be used with my powerpoint presentation that I have also posted (RW 1.7 Dictionary Skills).

This independent practice aligns to the ELA standard R1.5 Levels of Specificity for third grade. The topic covers the use of headings for a group of words. There are 9 questions on this independent practice, and the questions are formatted following the released test questions from the third grade ELA CST. The independent practice matches the powerpoint presentation that I also have posted.

This bundle includes 20 pages of identifying initial sound practice. Students cut and glue pictures to match the sound at the top of the page. Experience

I work for a school district that is using the direct instruction format. I like to incorporate technology into my lessons whenever possible, so I have been creating powerpoint presentations for the standards I am teaching.
