This handout can be used as an independent practice, homework, or assessment. The pages cover third grade ELA standard RW1.7. Handout includes several dictionary entries with questions that require students to use the entry and context of a sentence to determine the meaning of a multiple meaning word. The format of the questions matches how the standard is tested on the CST. This handout can be used with my powerpoint presentation that I have also posted (RW 1.7 Dictionary Skills).

This independent practice aligns to the ELA standard R1.5 Levels of Specificity for third grade. The topic covers the use of headings for a group of words. There are 9 questions on this independent practice, and the questions are formatted following the released test questions from the third grade ELA CST. The independent practice matches the powerpoint presentation that I also have posted.
