I began teaching in February of 2004. I have been a H.S. Intervention Specialist (2 years), 7th Grade Writing Teacher, and I currently teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Social Studies as well as 8th grade Language Arts.
This packet teaches students how to search effectively online. I walks through why to use special characters when searching as well as how to narrow search results effectively. Students have opportunities to compare results from various search engines. There are tips for effective online research to yield the most relevant results. There are also pages dedicated to the actual research that will help students to identify information that will be needed when creating bibliography/ reference pages.

This is a worksheet that guides the students through their research of an author. This worksheet goes well with any book study. The worksheet goes beyond the typical biography questions and asks the students to dig a little deeper. It also asks the students to try to find out how to contact the author. This worksheet helps students to be able to write biographies on authors that are interesting for you to read.

This actually teaches the students what it is they should be looking for when editing another student's paper.

Experience

I try to balance fun with learning. I use a lot of hands-on activities in my lessons. I also incorporate Project Based Learning in my instruction.
