My students come from diverse backgrounds in an urban school. They often do not believe that they can change the direction of their lives and I believe part of my job is to inspire the possibilities along with teaching the content. Because of this, my teaching style is rigorous and loose at the same time. I let the students guide the direction of the day, while building challenging activities that are engaging and important.
I am currently a Literacy Coach, spending time teaching lessons in all of the middle grades.. Many of my lessons develop test taking strategies along with improving comprehension, vocabulary, and motivation.
I continue to develop Standards-based lessons preparing myself and my students for the rigors of the Massachusetts ELA standards.
