Using a self-management approach to self-monitoring on-task behavior is a research-based intervention. This involves using a simple self-rating sheet, on which the student records their own progress with staying on task. In addition to rewards for on-task behavior, the student can earn extra points for matching the observations of the teacher. This builds self-monitoring and perspective taking skills.
