Davis's Dive

I try to save paper when I can. :-) I quiz the kids on these and document who has gotten their 0s, 1s, 2s....all the way up to 9s. I give them 1 minute and if they get it in that minute, they are the master! If they don't master it, I have them grab flashcards with that number (which is in my list of items on TPT).

This is great for kids skip counting, recognizing patterns, and learning about how the ones and tens place change values depending on the direction you go. There are enough spots for every number to fit so it's easy to check!

I have my kids use this before they even begin a word problem, along with my "problem solving rubric". It allows them to talk with partners about their understanding of the problem and what action to take. Children don't have to write under each one, but it needs to be understood before solving the problem. The kids are really doing great with this! Saves time!

I use this almost daily with my students. I have been working on this with lots of people over the last 5 years. It really gets them thinking about the problem. I have them glue it in their notebook and use it for their problems. I don't have them write in detail the "KAWT" but they need to at least think about it. Contact me if you have any questions. I am not cutesy, but I made this document to print out for kids to use in class and at home and put them in a pocket to grab as needed. It has all of the facts for 0s, 1s, 2s....up to 9s. Just print, cut, put answers lightly on back, and put in a Ziploc bag.

IDK why the "I" is at the top because on my downloaded and Drive file it is not. If you download it and it looks like that email or message me and tell me please and I'll send you whatever file you need. :-). I've used toothpicks for the hands on the clocks as well. You can modify it to fit your needs. Change the names as you want. This is fun to do along with desktop clocks. I have them cut them down the middle and put them in chronological order. :-)

This can be used with any number. Kids can show their knowledge of place value, base ten blocks, spelling of the word, expanded form/notation, and standard form.

This is a big version of what the kids use in their journals. Helps think through the problems.

I have this going to the right, just like a 100s chart. I also have a +10. It prepares them for adding with 2 digit numbers. We talk about what changes (the ones place) and what stays the same most of the time (tens).

This is a great way to look at a number. It gives more structure, asks about the value, place, expanded form, what 10 more, 10 less, etc. would be. They can continue on to the back. This saves paper and copies as well. I have them glue it into their math journals.

This worksheet is designed to got with a 100s chart and 200s chart, the boxes go DOWN. This helps to introduce adding to 2 digit numbers..I add 1, then 10. Check out my 1 too.
