This 12 page 2-3 lesson package leads the studetns through the basics of graphing linear equations (quadrants, x and y-intercepts, slopes, slope-y intercept equation and identifying linear vs non-linear equations). It is meant to be a self discovery lesson with minimal guidance from the instructor.
This 10 page student led lesson allows students to discover the effects of h and k values (horizontal and vertical shifts)on various functions. Included is a 27 question worksheet to reinforce the concepts.
Five page assignment asks students to analyze the graphs of polynomial functions and determine where the first and second derivatives are positive/negative. The students ae then asked to sketch the fist and second derivative curves. A key is provided.
This 6 page student led activity allows kids to discovery how the order of transformations(compressions, expansion, reflections, and translations) effects various functions. Included are 2 worksheets which review the topics covered.
Two page lesson helps students discover that parallel and perpendicular lines have negative reciprocal slopes. There are three review questions and a summary attached.
This 3 page activity allows students to discover the effects of the absolute value on a variety of functions. Minimal teacher instruction is needed for this 45 minute activity. There are 7 review questions attached to reinforce the concepts.
This 4 page quadratic functions review covers transformations, sketching, quadratic formula, discriminant, inequalities and zeros. 18 questions (9 with a and b portions).
This 10 page 2 hour lesson allows students to discover the effects of a and b values (vertical and horizontal expansion/compressions) on a variety of functions. Also attached are two worksheets that review the concepts and a summary, complete with visuals, of the lesson. This lesson requires minimal instruction as it is a self discovery activity for the kids.
Three page driven activity allows students to discover how reflecting a function in the x and y-axis changes its apperance. Minimal instruction is needed from the teacher. Attached are 11 questions to review the ideas.
